It All Started With A Mom Searching For Answers
TJ Nutrition® is the result of personal suffering by a mom and her children who were struck down by a condition few understood, and for which no one had answers.
Dr. Diana Driscoll and her husband Dr. Richard Driscoll had been working together for years and were blessed with two children. But while on a mission trip in 2004, Dr. Diana contracted a virus that ultimately left her disabled with headaches, dizziness, gastroparesis, shakiness, tachycardia, nausea, difficulty breathing -- over 80 symptoms that seemed to come and go for no reason. Their family traveled throughout the United States, visiting over 50 doctors to help them identify and treat this mysterious condition. Ultimately, Dr. Driscoll was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but traditional treatment offered no relief.
The Driscoll’s eight-year-old son began to develop similar symptoms, soon becoming too ill to attend school. Throughout all of this, doctors remained stumped and told them they had an “invisible illnesses”, for which there was no treatment.
Personal Research Becomes the Key
Growing frustrated with the lack of answers, yet convinced that traditional science could hold the answers, Dr. Diana turned to research. The Driscolls set up a corporation to conduct studies on these “invisible illnesses”. Their corporation, Genetic Disease Investigators, LLC, was initially funded with disability income and much of the research was conducted from her bed.
The next decade was a frustrating one, with many starts and stops, as the complexity of the illness began to present itself. There was no one answer to what plagued them, and every answer revealed additional hidden aspects of the illness. Even more frustrating, symptoms continued to evolve, and Dr. Driscoll and her children did not present in the same way.
Persistence and determination over a decade resulted in answers — not only for the Driscoll family but for many others as well. One aspect of illness that had been missed was poor vagus nerve functioning. Digging deeper, Dr. Driscoll determined that the nerve was not working well due to a problem with the neurotransmitter (acetylcholine). This turned out to be more than just a "nerve problem". Instead, this was a neurotransmitter problem, and it affected not only digestion, bowel movements, and organ function, but also ocular moisture and cognition.
Using her knowledge of organic chemistry in addition to her new research, Dr. Driscoll began to put it all together, literally, in her kitchen. In 2015, Dr. Driscoll was ultimately awarded a U.S. Patent for Parasym Plus™, a compound that was one necessary component to recovery.
Dr. Driscoll and her children have recovered and are now thriving. Dr. Driscoll now works full-time to help others with similar health challenges.
